Review: Wilma Svart Aroma Precision Grinder

Wilma Svart Aroma Precision Grinder (£135)

Review by Camilla Page

250g capacity hopper

Comes with a 5-year warranty if you buy directly from Wilfa (I did!)

5 grind settings with 32 steps in between - doesn't grind finely enough for espresso but not an issue as I use a French press for which there are 3 coarseness settings (coarsest one works best for me).

This model cost slightly more than the Wilfa Svart Coffee Grinder (£99) because it has a more powerful but slower motor so doesn't get as hot which is better for the flavour of the coffee.

Good bits:

Neat and compact (310mm L x 200mm W x 160mm H) (several other grinders were too large for our space)

Quick, simple and enjoyable to use

Not very loud

Not so good bits:

Once you've ground and collected your coffee, the machine tends to shed a bit more later on so it needs a few knocks/taps to get the remainder out, otherwise it drops everywhere! Not a major issue and hasn't put me off using it.

Online reviews highlighted two less desirable features, however not issues for me:

Square / unusual shape of the 'bin' that collects the coffee - I have actually found it pours out well and the corner shape collects the coffee easily

Static issue that leaves a bit of residual coffee in the bin – a few gentle taps fixes this
