Our story
Like so many other small businesses, The Penny Roaster arose out of the Pandemic of 2020. Having previously operated a successful speciality coffee house in Devon, I decided it was time to venture back into the amazing world of coffee, this time focussing on roasting.
Everything is about quality and attention to detail. From the equipment I use, the beans I source and the profiles & blends I develop, my focus is on providing the best possible product. Whether you are a trade customer, professional or home barista or just enjoy a great coffee, you will receive a service that is second-to-none.
Our ingredients
I personally source green coffee directly from importers who have close relationships with the farmers, their families and their workers. In late 2023 I imported directly from a plantation in the Araku Valley in India, and this is something I hope to build upon going forward. Traceability is important to me so that I can ensure my customers receive the best possible product. I then develop specific roast profiles and blends to showcase the qualities and subtleties of each coffee.
